The word 'Easter' is originally a Saxon word (Eostre), denoting a goddess of the Saxons, in honor of whom sacrifices were offered about the time of the Passover. Hence, for Christians, the name came to be given to the festival of the Resurrection of Christ.
It's important, therefore, that we embrace the overall sentiment of Easter which is: You need not be afraid of anything - not life with all its insecurities, its conflicts, its uncertainties; not afraid of even death itself. You need have no fear!
Imagine living life and making decisions based on that one sentence. How different would our lives be if we just focused on the positive outcomes of a decision knowing that it will all work out in the end?
Simple idea of course, but In this day and age where fear seems to grip us at every turn, why shouldn't we look for ways to help raise ourselves and each other over the uncertainties in life?
One look into the world of social media can tell you all you need to know about human nature and individuals who would rather spend more time spreading hate and hurtful words anonymously, than finding a way to make someone's world that bit nicer. How great would it be if there was an opposite version of the 'online troll'..perhaps an 'Internet Angel', someone who just randomly posted positive and encouraging words to accompany your post and not be A) a relative or B) a blogger who is simply looking for a follow back on their site.
Is it really too innocent an idea to look for ways to raise people up rather than tear them down? To make sure the only thing you do behind someone's back is 'pat' it? Too far fetched? Perhaps as long as we have faith in our own beliefs then truly anything is possible.
From our family to yours, Happy Easter!
