Lessons from a new spring

In this day and age of technology it seems we are connected 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The lines between our personal and professional time seemed blurred and the quest to find a perfect 'work-life' balance consumes many.
Unfortunately, it is not a realistic goal because it is inherently unnatural. This equation is based on the assumption that there can be a perfect blend of time and energy to both areas of our lives, but it is an unrealistic expectation.
spring-flowerOne only has to look to nature to see that  perfect balance only occurs twice a year - the spring and fall equinox. On these two days, day and night are exactly the same lengths - 12 hours. Outside of these two days a year, nature must rely not on balance, but on her own pace and rhythm. Nature does this to survive and thrive; now, we must do the same.
We would be better off spending our time and energy on finding our own pace, just as nature has.
Spring is the season of fresh ideas and new beginnings. It is the time to clean your calendar and your commitments so there is space, mental and physical, for the growth of new ideas and the purging of the old.
So how do you adopt a 'spring' mindset in the next few weeks? Here are 3 ideas that can get you started:
· What are the old commitments and paperwork that have been sitting on your desk or taking up space in your file cabinet that you can purge?
· What meetings or stale to-dos can you remove from your week to create space for more creative pursuits like brainstorming?
· Find your own  'spring' rhythm and clear out the old and enjoy the new growth.
At APlus we are constantly looking for new ways to improve our rhythm/service to you whether it be with technological advances or easier ways for us to connect.
If you haven't been by the office lately, we'd love you to meet the other members of our incredible staff, too.
